where was the manager? net result: it took almost an hour before our breakfast order was taken (not his fault), and some guests were becoming a little irritated, especially when orders were taken from a family who had just arrived while a lady on the table next to us was waiting even longer than us. when breakfast arrived, the order was wrong and so had to go back into the kitchen to be corrected. when breakfast was eventually served, it was ‘adequate’ but not particularly generous. certainly not what we expected given that we had paid extra for a decent breakfast. because the breakfast was late, we ended up missing our slot at stonehenge, which we had booked the night before online. we decided to eat out that night, visiting a really lovely indian restaurant in salisbury (anokaa, in... we chose to stay here because the location was great for visiting both stonehenge and salisbury . we arrived early friday evening and decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. a little surprised to discover that there was only one young guy who was covering both the bar and the restaurant. he was very polite, and is probably the main reason why we decided to give the place three stars. the same young guy was left to take orders & serve breakfast next morning, as well as provide room service to other parts of the hotel. where were the hotel staff? the next day they could not advise us on the nearest ‘park and ride’ for salisbury; we had to go to the petrol station next door for that information. by this point, we had made a definite decision not to visit/ stay in this hotel again. this is not to mention the lack of air conditioning in the hot weather, or even a fan in the room to move the air around. looking around, the place looked a little sorry for itself, with not a single real plant or flower inside the building. any plants in the place were fake. there were no parasols out on the decking area. the flower containers outside were all empty. to be fair, breakfast on our second (and last) morning was much improved, this time it was a buffet style and the lady running it seemed polite and helpful. no delays this time. all in all, such a pity. it could have been so much nicer if their staffing levels were consistent, if they had at least basic information available about local transport and finally, if they had little ‘homely’ touches such as flowers or living plants around the place. you could be forgiven for imagining that staff felt overwhelmed by the size of the task of running the place , and had partly ‘given up.’ come on stones hotel, motivate your team and get the basics of hospitality right! more 582laurencem 8/07/2019 stayed for work close by. check in was fast and efficient. got to my room and the heat and musty smell just hit me! the room was ... read more clean and well stocked but even with the window open all night it smelt musty and stale. the bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely (gorgeous smelling shower gel provided). i ate in the restaurant and the food was ok (soup was a bit salty). breakfast the next morning was ok, bacon was delicious but not too keen on the sausages. check out was again quick and efficient. was ok for 1 nights stay, but someone should ensure the rooms are aired out (especially in 40 degree heat). more flashgordon1976 8/01/2019 had to book last minute due to a family emergency, my sat nav wouldn’t pick up the post code so in a very stressed state i contacted the hotel. the ... read more reception lady sharon advised to go to nearest post code it would find and to ring her back, from there she gave me step by step directions. i was so grateful, she later found me with a printed out map and directions for the next night. all the staff were amazing especially eunice and tom who offered support and comfort and made me feel at ease as i was staying alone. my room was very clean and great, i was a little confused about the break
