“so god created man in his own image , in the image of god created he him; male and female created he them.” genesis 1:27. “god is a spirit : and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth.” john 4:24 in genesis chapter 1, we find that, man and woman have a spirit . “and the lord god formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul .” genesis 2:7. in genesis chapter 2, we also learn that, man and woman have a soul . and adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh : she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man. genesis 2:23. in genesis chapter 2 man and woman have a body . “and the very god of peace sanctify you wholly; and i pray god your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our lord jesus christ.” i thessalonians 5:23 how many then do a follow up question, to the first question of who we are? these follow up question are; 1. what will damage our spirit? answer: sin damages our spirit. 2. what will damage our soul? answer: rejection and abandonment are what damages our soul. 3. what will damage our body? answer: we all have a good idea to what damages our body. this will then lead us to what will restore our spirit from the damages of sin? this question and and what restores the damages of rejection to our soul, is answered below. consequently, learning and applying the restoration of our spirit and soul will have a positive effect to our body. restoration of our spirit. human history and man’s conscience bear testimony to sin’s reality. the scriptures show, teach us or makes known to us that sin entered the universe through satan and then into the human race with the fall of adam and eve. the bible reveals the essence of sin to be self-centeredness and its tragic result to be is death. however, it also reveals god’s redemptive plan in christ to make an end of sin for eternity through his son, jesus christ. because of christ’s sinlessness, his human nature was therefore immortal. all men must die as a result of sin. “ the wages of sin is death” (romans 6:23). christ, having no sin of his own, and conquering every temptation to sin, did not have to die. sickness, disease or age could not have conquered him. this makes his death unique, as was his birth and life. jesus was sinless and therefore immoral. he voluntarily laid down his life for us. he died for our sins (john 10:18; 19:30; romans 5:12-21). no sinful or mortal man could do this. he was sinless because he was born of a virgin. as a result of being born of a virgin, he was god incarnate. being sinless god-man he was the perfect revelation of god to man, and the perfect mediator between god and man. christ died for our sins, through him our spirit is restored. restoration of our soul. forgiveness is what restores our soul. the greatest cause of a “wounded soul” is rejection. people suffer rejection when they are unloved, unwanted, unprotected, unappreciated, abused, or mistreated by people who should have loved, protected and valued them. many of these wounds happen in childhood when people are most vulnerable. often, parents who have been emotionally wounded will themselves cause wounds of rejection in their own children. people who never find inner healing may spend their entire lives looking for wholeness while always feeling somehow inferior and incomplete. jesus came to “heal the brokenhearted”, to heal the inner man, so that people can be whole and fulfill their god-given destinies. if we refuse to forgive others their sins against us, we are refusing to do for others what god has already done for us through christ. god forgives and forgets; satan remembers and accuses. if we refuse to forgive others, we are maintaining an agreement with satan and thus giving him a form of legal authority over us to hold us in bondage and torment. matthew 18:21-35. if we freely forgive others as god freely forgave us, we take away satan’s legal ground to control us, we are in agreement with god, and we open the channel for god’s healing power to flow into our hearts and soul . note; it is rarely good enough to issue a blanket statement like; “i forgive everyone.” it is usually necessary to examine our hearts for specific resentments and hurts involving specific people, and then to forgive those specific people for the specific offenses. one of the main parts in the lords prayer is the act of forgiveness, for the soul. matthew 6:12. another part is our daily bread, and act of provision for the body. matthew 6:11. and another part is an act of resistance for our spirit. and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. matthew 6:13. our father in heaven, hollowed be your name. your kingdom come. your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. give us this day our daily bread. and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors . and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. amen. matthew 6:9-13. we will also look at the other parts of the lord’s prayer, later on. this is very interesting, but are there an example or type and shadow of spirit, soul, and body in the bible ?
