-- what began as a concert party more than 30 years ago, putting on musical variety shows, evolved eight years later into the guilsfield singers. initially under the guidance of bethan scotford, then audrey beeston and suzanne edwards, the choir appointed gerry howe as musical director in 2006. gerry retired as musical director in december of 2016 to concentrate on his charitable activities and mr. paul wardell was appointed. the guilsfield singers have gained a reputation for imaginative and exciting performances of a wide selection of choral works. they are a mixed choir, drawing on musical talent from the welshpool, newtown and oswestry area of powys and shropshire. over the years the choir has raised many thousands of pounds for both local and national charities and enjoyed success in choral competitions. their repertoire includes choral music from the sixteenth to the twenty-first centuries, including modern day composers and arrangers. we are always glad to welcome new members and have vacancies for tenor and bass voices particularly. there is no audition, but a commitment to attend weekly rehearsals is necessary. we meet at the old school, guilsfield on thursday nights 7:30 to 9:30 pm. come along and see if it is for you! the guilsfield singers our christmas concert click pictureto enlarge accompanist wanted click for details --
