poems i have penned. home romantic poems smiley poems reality poems military poems just poems short stories feedback more [email protected] some say we get the face we deserve by the time we reach 40 - others the heart. here is a look into the depths of mine. colin n clark welcome to my world i am a 67 year old romantic and realist. i am also: an ex-soldier, husband, father, grandfather, godfather and great-grandfather with all i hold dear, either close at hand or easily accessible via the wonders of modern technology. it is through this technology that i am able to share the intricacies of my demented mind. please enjoy. products of the month if i have created something new, this is where i will announce it first. tips on getting the best out of reading poetry. ​ one should never read a book of poetry, such as this, as one would read a story-book or novel - starting at the beginning and continuing to the end. ​ a story has chapters which follow on from each-other, in the same vein and format as the preceding ones, taking you through to a conclusion. it has an obvious beginning, middle and ending. ​ poems are not chapters. they are individual ‘stories’ in their own right. ​ each poem has its own rhythm, rhyme, cadence and ‘beat’ (rrcb) - and its own story - with a beginning, middle and conclusion of its own. ​ if one attempts to read one poem after the other after the other, one will begin to, inadvertently, try to impose the rrcb of the last poem on to the next, only to find that it doesn’t make sense. you then become frustrated and bored with poetry in general, and give up. ​ with a poetry book, or a site, it is best to ‘dip in’ now and then; read one or two at a sitting, and then re-visiting after a break. try it. ​ i hope this has been helpful; i want you to enjoy what i write. give it a go. :) looking for a short, perhaps, romantic visit? why not check out a few of my mini poems, i add to them regularly, although i don't announce them on the right. you will find them under romantic poems, in the twitter picture prompt page © 2017 colin n clark. proudly created with wix.com comment on this poem/page here (please mention the poem title in your comment)
