home find history portishead | dummy the smiths | the queen is dead joy division | unkown pleasures led zeppelin | iii pink floyd | dark side of the moon yes | fragile contact vote and play the idea is simple. bay area musicians nominate & vote for albums that are influential to their musical lives. when enough players sign-up for said album, we set-up a performance at a great venue (previous performances were at the great american music hall). all proceeds being donated directly to a youth music program of the group's choice. past shows we put on include: portishead (dummy) pink floyd (dark side of the moon) led zeppelin (iii) yes (fragile) joy division (unknown pleasures) smiths (the queen is dead) this is how it typically works: login / create an account: i display "username" which can be as real or deceptive as you would like it to be (your email is only shared with other members in your group if pulled together). login is required to access most of the site. browse through album/ artist listings: on the right side of the page, select a project and sign-up to play by simply typing in what instrument(s) you play at the bottom of each listing, and voila you are signed up (you are able to edit / delete your sign-ups). create a new album | artist page: at the top of the page is the "create a project" button (if you are logged in). once your new project is saved, please sign-up at the bottom of the listing so other players can see what instruments have signed up. pulling the band together: once a project is "playable", i will send an email to all the players asking them to confirm their commitment. book the gig - i will then try to book a date typically 3 months out. rehearsals - i advise the project member meet right away to determine roles, and have their first rehearsal asap. this allows time to make any needed adjustments without risking the performance date. then rehearse more as needed (most bands have a total of 4 rehearsals). promote the gig - after the first rehearsal, provide details on the project so we can create postcards / flyers / press release / etc. . . .
